Frequently asked Questions
Questions I'm asked most often by mothers, partners and families across Wiltshire and the wider South West. If yours isn't here, please get in touch - I'm always happy to talk.
Yes - all packages can be paid in instalments at no extra cost. I know this is a significant investment, and one worth making.
The earlier you book, the longer we have to spread payments, which keeps the monthly amounts smaller.
For traditional postpartum support, ideally by around 30 weeks. This gives us enough time to know each other before your baby arrives. If you're further along in pregnancy and want postpartum support, please still get in touch - I'll always do what I can to make it work.
Yes, as part of my signature package, The Odyssey. I consciously choose to offer birth support only as part of a continuous journey: from pregnancy through to the end of your First 40 Days. This is because the deep trust built during pregnancy and the nurturing support required postpartum are just as vital as the birth itself.
This model fills the gap in modern maternity care, ensuring you have a familiar, safe pair of hands to hold you through the entire transition, rather than just the birth. By journeying together from pregnancy to the end of the fourth trimester, we ensure you are truly held, heard, and supported at every step.
Yes. I support every birth equally - home birth, hospital birth, birth centre, planned caesarean, or any unexpected turn of events. Your birth is your birth.
A doula's value often becomes most apparent when things don't go as expected. The continuity, advocacy, emotional support and postpartum care don't change based on how your baby arrives.
This is one of the most important questions to ask any birth doula, and one I answer with complete transparency.
I work in a shared care model with my trusted colleague Jasmine Voller of Rooted Motherhood. From the moment you book, we both prepare for your birth so that you always have a familiar, qualified, continuous presence - whoever attends.
A doula offers continuous emotional, practical, and informational support through pregnancy, birth, and the weeks that follow.
During the antenatal period, I help you prepare emotionally and physically for labour, guiding you through birth preferences and comfort techniques.
After your baby arrives, I provide gentle, traditional postpartum care in your own home, supporting feeding, rest, recovery, and the transition into parenthood.
A birth doula provides continuous support before, during and immediately after labour. Their work centres on the birth itself - emotional preparation, comfort techniques, advocacy in the birthing room, and the first few hours afterwards.
A postpartum doula supports you in the days, weeks and months after birth. The focus shifts to your recovery, feeding, sleep, emotional processing, and the transition into life as a family.
Some doulas offer one or the other. I offer both as a continuous journey through The Odyssey, because the birth and the postpartum are inseparable parts of the same transition.
Midwives provide essential medical care and clinical expertise. A doula's role is completely non-medical: I'm there for your comfort, confidence, and calm.
I work alongside your midwife, focusing on emotional wellbeing, reassurance, and practical help so you feel listened to and supported throughout your journey. Many families find this blend - midwife plus doula - offers the most balanced care.
Yes. I've trained as both a birth doula and a traditional postpartum doula, with ongoing continued professional development each year. I hold full doula insurance and am DBS checked.
You can see the full list of my training, certifications and professional memberships on the Qualifications and Training page.
Yes. I offer in-person doula care across parts of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, West Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, the Cotswolds, Somerset, Bristol, Bath and many more locations.
If you live further away or prefer remote sessions, antenatal and postpartum support can also be provided online via Zoom. If you live further afield, please do contact me. I am happy to talk things through to see how we can make it work. This flexibility means you can still receive consistent, personal care wherever you are.

Many families book around the second trimester to secure their chosen dates, especially for in-person support.
However, it's never too early, or too late to reach out. Whether you're newly pregnant or already postpartum, I'll do my best to accommodate you within my service area.
Yes. My support includes partners as much as possible. Together, we explore ways your partner can feel confident and connected, whether that's through hands-on comfort techniques, shared decision-making, or simply feeling supported themselves.
A doula nurtures the whole family, not just the birthing person.
Life with a new baby can be unpredictable, and flexibility is part of my approach.
If you need to adjust your sessions, extend your postpartum support, or change your booking, we'll talk it through together. My aim is to provide continuity and reassurance that adapts to your needs, not the other way around.
My doula packages are priced at a fixed rate so families know exactly what to expect and can plan with confidence.
However, I understand that circumstances vary, and I never want cost to be the reason someone goes without support. If you feel the fee is beyond your reach, we can discuss a tiered payment structure or instalments to make it more manageable. My goal is always to find a balance that allows you to access the care you need while recognising the value of the work involved.
