A Doula for Wantage Mothers
Birth and traditional postpartum support, in Wantage and across the Vale.
The early weeks at home can feel particularly small when you haven't yet built a network around you.
This is the work of being there before the village forms.Local, by way of Wiltshire.
I'm a mother of two boys, based in Wiltshire, with Wantage and the wider Vale of White Horse a regular part of my work. I'm a local birth and traditional postpartum doula.
Before training as a doula I'd spent six years teaching in secondary schools, with an earlier stretch as cabin crew. I came to this work after my own postpartum and the loss of my own mother in the weeks that followed. The word matrescence - the developmental shift of becoming a mother - made sense of what I'd been through. I trained as a doula soon after.
Three packages.
Where to begin depends on where you are now and the support that feels right alongside you.

The Charting
Map. Navigate. Prepare. Evidence-based education designed to move you from uncertainty to clarity as you transition into parenthood.

The Odyssey
Trust. Release. Recover. A steady presence offering deep preparation, birth attendance, and postnatal sanctuary across your full journey.

The Sacred Pause
Stop. Breathe. Heal. Traditional postpartum care providing the village, nourishment, and wisdom for your First 40 Days.
Care for mothers settling in.
Most Wantage mothers give birth at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, with the John Radcliffe in Oxford an alternative for those further east. Home birth is a steady option for those who plan one. What no maternity team can fully provide, given how stretched the NHS now is, is continuity. The same person knowing you over months and present in the weeks around the birth. That continuity is what a doula brings.
Shorter, more focused care.
Not every mother begins with a full package. Some start with a focused call, a single visit, or a session of bodywork later down the line.
