A Doula for Fairford Mothers

Birth and traditional postpartum support, in Fairford and across the Cotswolds.
Mothering the Mother - Odyssey of Motherhood

Fairford is small, quiet Cotswold town. The first weeks of motherhood can still feel surprisingly hard, even somewhere as peaceful as this.

This is what doula care looks like here.
About me

Local to Fairford, just down the road.

I'm a mother of two boys, based in Swindon, about twenty-five minutes south of Fairford. Most of my work in Fairford happens in your home, with drives kept short and visits unhurried by design.

I came to this work after my own postpartum. I'd spent six years teaching in secondary schools before training, with an earlier stretch as cabin crew. The early weeks after my first son arrived, and the loss of my own mother during the same period, set me on this path. The word matrescence - the developmental shift of becoming a mother - gave language to it. I've been doing this work since.

Around Fairford

Where the work fits.

Most Fairford mothers give birth at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, with Gloucestershire Royal also an option for those further north. Home birth and midwife-led units are alternatives for those who choose them. What an overstretched maternity system can't always offer is continuity. The same person knowing you over months and present in the weeks around the birth. That continuity is what a doula brings.

Fairford has its own particular rhythm. Smaller than the major towns, with strong local community in some places and less so in others, particularly for families who've moved in recently, or for partners away with the RAF. Part of my work, especially for those mothers, is filling some of the space that family or close neighbours might have once filled. Cooked food, real company, and a steady presence in your home.

"She offers nourishing food, healing massage, and an open ear to talk through birth and motherhood experiences. This is such a sacred time, and we should invest in our own care too."
