A Doula for Lechlade Mothers
Birth and traditional postpartum support, in Lechlade and across the Cotswolds.
Lechlade sits where the Thames begins to feel like a real river. It's a small, picturesque town, and a quiet place to be a new mother. The quiet can be its own kind of demand.
This is care that doesn't disturb the quiet.Care that fits the place.
What the system can't give you is continuity. The same person knowing you over months and present in the weeks around the birth. That continuity is what a doula brings.
Most of my work in Lechlade happens in your home. The drive over from Swindon is short, and the visits are unhurried by design. Many of the mothers I meet here have moved out to the Cotswolds for exactly the kind of quiet Lechlade offers. The challenge of postpartum, sometimes, is that the quiet is still there but feels different when you're holding a baby and missing the village that used to be down the road.
I came to this work because I lived it.
I'm a mother of two boys, based in Swindon. Before training as a doula I spent six years teaching in secondary schools, with an earlier stretch as cabin crew. The early weeks after my first son arrived, and the loss of my own mother during those same weeks, made my path clear.
The word matrescence - the developmental shift of becoming a mother - gave a name to what I'd lived. I trained as a doula soon after. This is the postpartum care I needed and didn't have.
Three ways to begin.
Where you start depends on where you are and the support that feels right.
