A Doula for Malmesbury Mothers
Birth and traditional postpartum support, across north Wiltshire and the Cotswold edge.
Malmesbury is a place that takes its time. New motherhood, in some ways, asks for the same thing. The challenge is finding the quiet alongside everything else the early weeks bring.
This is the work that fits the pace.I came to doula work after living the postpartum without it.
Before training as a doula I taught in secondary schools for six years and worked as cabin crew before that. I came to this work after my own postpartum, and the loss of my own mother in those same weeks.
The word matrescence - the developmental shift of becoming a mother - gave a name to what I'd lived. I trained as a doula soon after. This is the postpartum care I needed and didn't have.
Three packages.
Where to begin depends on what you're looking for, and where you are now.

The Charting
Map. Navigate. Prepare. Evidence-based education designed to move you from uncertainty to clarity as you transition into parenthood.

The Odyssey
Trust. Release. Recover. A steady presence offering deep preparation, birth attendance, and postnatal sanctuary across your full journey.

The Sacred Pause
Stop. Breathe. Heal. Traditional postpartum care providing the village, nourishment, and wisdom for your First 40 Days.
What I bring to the Cotswold edge.
Most Malmesbury mothers will give birth at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, with Gloucestershire Royal in Gloucester also an option for those further north. What the system can't always offer, given the pressures it works under, is continuity. The same person knowing you over months and present in the weeks around the birth. That continuity is what a doula brings.
Many of the mothers I work with around Malmesbury have moved here from larger cities - London, Bristol, sometimes further. The early weeks of motherhood can feel lonely and heavy, particularly when family is several hours away. Part of my work is bringing some of the steadiness that family used to provide. Cooked food, real conversation, and the calm of someone who has done this many times before.
Smaller offerings.
Not every mother starts with a full package. Sometimes the work is one call, one overnight, or one focused visit at the moment when something feels just out of reach.
