A Doula in Swindon

Birth and traditional postpartum support, at home in Wiltshire.
Mothering the Mother - Odyssey of Motherhood

Most of the mothers I work with in Swindon hadn't planned on hiring a doula. They'd planned on family being close by, on the standard NHS visits, on getting through. They reached out when those weren't quite enough.

This is what I'm here for.
Local to you

I live here in Swindon.

I'm a mother of two boys, living in SN25, with two whippets at my feet most of the time. If you're in Swindon, we're almost certainly closer than you think. I taught in Swindon's secondary schools for six years before training as a doula. Before that I worked as cabin crew, which took me through cultures where the postpartum period is treated with the reverence I now know it deserves.

The early weeks after my first son arrived, and the sudden loss of my mother during that same period, set me on this path. I trained as a doula not long after. The word matrescence - the developmental shift of becoming a mother - names what those weeks actually are. That's the work I do now, here in Swindon.

In Swindon

We're neighbours.

Most births in Swindon happen at the Great Western Hospital, just off the M4. I know the building and the team well, and could draw the routes in and out at any time of day. Whatever your plan - hospital, home, or somewhere between - you're working with someone who already knows the ground.

Living in Swindon, I work with mothers right across the town - Old Town, Stratton, Wroughton, Highworth - as well as those in the surrounding parts of Wiltshire. Most of my work happens in your home. Drives are short, visits unhurried, and the relationship has the room it needs.

Sometimes one visit is all you need.

Not every mother needs a full package from the start. Some begin with a single visit, or a single call. Sometimes the work is something you reach for months or years after the birth.
